From the Aegean & Mediterranean Seas to the arid landscapes of southeast Turkey, the people are hospitable & into good conversation over tea. Despite the conflicts over land & independence between the Republic of Turkey & the Kurdish population of SE Turkey, I found all to value the same things: family, education, religion, economic progress, & peace with the other. Once again, “a few” have been making it difficult for “the many” to live in peace. As a result, a handful fall into prejudices against “the other”. All my travels & experiences were positive, meaningful, & fun.
I lived in south central Turkey for three years while establishing the International Guild of Visual Peacemakers. I consider it a privilege & I definitely recommend the region to travelers into both backpacking-style & luxury-style getaways. The people will welcome you!
